Board of Directors

The Watts Wind Energy Inc. board of directors has a breadth of knowledge in all aspects of wind project development and construction. The board includes directors with the entrepreneurial, technical and capital markets experience required to oversee the company as it successfully grows its portfolio of wind energy projects.

David Regan, MBA, Non-executive Chairman

David is the Chief Executive Officer of Sona Nanotech. Previously, he held positions with DHX Media Ltd., VI Associates, A.T. Kearney’s New York Financial Institutions Group and Export Development Corporation. In these positions he worked with clients throughout North America, Europe and Asia to provide financing, corporate development and business strategy advisory services. David holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and a BBA Honours degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.

Stanley Mason, P.Eng., President & Director

Stan is the co-founder of Seaforth Engineering Group Inc., Atlantic Orient Canada Inc. and Seaforth Energy Inc. He has over 20 years of marine engineering and project management experience in the provision of consulting engineering services to the renewable energy and marine industries.

Stan’s experience includes financial management as well as business management and operations. Stan has experience in the manufacture of the AOC 15/50 wind turbine and management and ownership of the Morgan Falls hydro-electric facility. Stan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia.

Paul Pynn, P. Eng., Vice President & Director

Paul Pynn, P.Eng, has over 20 years of experience leading renewable energy companies. He was the founder and president of One Wind Services, one of North America’s leading renewable energy service providers with over 225 employees and offices in Canada and the US, focused on constructing and servicing wind, solar, utility scale storage and electric vehicle infrastructure projects. One Wind was acquired in 2019 by Spark Power after which time, Paul led the Renewables Division.

Paul speaks at international wind energy conferences, is a current member of both the Canadian Wind Energy Association small wind committee and ENS Environment committee. Paul is a past member of the CSA/IEC wind turbine standards committee.

Prior to the wind power industry, Paul was involved in project management of major construction projects both domestic and international. Paul holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Memorial University (1995) and a certificate of electronics technology (2005).

Jim Frodin, MBA, Director

Jim is the owner of Apexdia Super Abrasives LLC, which is a designer and manufacturer of diamond products for the construction industry. Prior to that Jim was co-owner of Motor and Gear Engineering which repaired electric motors and gear boxes along with the manufacture of specialty gears.

He worked in the corporate environment for 30 years. His last assignment was director of new business development in Europe for Saint-Gobain. Jim studied engineering and business at Brenau University and obtained an EMBA from Babson University.

Keith Abriel, CPA, CA, CFA, Independent Director

Keith is a seasoned financial executive, known for bringing a practical, tenacious, and entrepreneurial approach to senior financial leadership and corporate director roles. Keith’s 25 years’ experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer of several growth focused publicly traded and venture backed companies, across a broad range of sectors. Keith has raised over a billion dollars of capital for public, venture-backed, and private companies and has extensive international M&A experience. Keith also spent 9 years with PwC and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Cum Laude) from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax Nova Scotia.

Gordon Stevens, CFA, Independent Director

Gordon Stevens, CFA, is the founder and President of The Uncommon Group.  Starting in 2003, The Uncommon Group is now a collection of Halifax retail stores including Uncommon Grounds, Rum Runners Rum Cake Factory, Sugah! Confectionery, Carbonstok and Uncommon Kids.

From 2002 to 2003 Gordon worked for Geosam Investments as Vice President of Investments where he was responsible for the investment portfolio which included a number of publicly traded and private equity investments. From 1998 to 2002, Gordon was Vice President with Goldman Sachs in the Cayman Islands and in Princeton, New Jersey where he was involved in the formation of numerous hedge funds as well as the ongoing administrative and valuation of those funds. Previously, Gordon was a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte where he worked in assurance services to investment and insurance companies.

Gordon is active in the community serving on the boards of Taste of Nova Scotia and the Downtown Halifax Business Commission and having founded a local co-operative marketing and promotional organization for independent retailers in Halifax, I Love Local HFX, which now has more than 50 member companies. Gordon also previously chaired the Arthritis Society of Nova Scotia and sat on the National Board of the Arthritis Society of Canada.
